With only 5 weeks until our last hand in EVER, I’ve been trying to knuckle down and get all my editing done and dusted asap so that I can get the two films to the sound people in plenty of time. So far, I’m pretty much on target in terms of what I’ve completed and what I’ve still got left to do, which is nice, so I’m not too stressed…but I see that changing fairly soon as the deadline looms ever closer!
I’ve completed all my written work (apart from the self-reflective essay, which I can’t really do yet anyway) and I’ve just got a few minor adjustments to make to my trailers and showreel, so that takes the pressure off somewhat.
The documentary is coming along nicely – I just finished the first (rough) cut last night and I’m really pleased with it. At the moment it stands at 11 minutes and 40 seconds, so I’ve got to cuts a few bits down to make it stand at the required 10 minutes…but it’s not as far over as I thought it would be. I’ll be showing it to Jade (the director) this week (via youtube or vimeo) so she can let me know of any adjustments and specifics she wants (especially for things like titles and credits which, at the moment, are very rough as I’m not sure of her ideas for these aspects), and then I can get cracking with the final cut to give to Joe (sound).
As for Dave’s music video…he’s finished shooting and the footage is being couriered to me on a hard drive as I write this, so I can make a start on the edit for that as soon as it arrives, and hopefully have a first full cut to show him next week when I return to Falmouth.
So all in all, I’m feeling pretty positive about my portfolio as a whole…I just can’t believe that it’s all nearly over. Where have the last three years gone?!
