It’s been a pretty hectic week for me work-wise, with little (and big) editing changes going on all over the place. It’s now just over 2 weeks until hand-in, and this looming deadline is making me panic ever so slightly. Especially as I’m still trying to make all the little amendments to Jade’s documentary that everyone is suggesting…between me, Jade, Collette and all our tutors, it’s becoming almost impossible to create a film that everyone is happy with, there are opinions coming in from everywhere, about everything!
I’ve just completed another cut, which will hopefully now be the last one, before the peer appraisal on Monday anyway. The one thing worrying me is that there are talks of doing another day filming, which in my opinion is cutting it too fine in terms of getting the edit and sound done in time for hand-in. Also, I’m not really sure more footage is going to make the film better, more like it will just confuse it and not fit in with what we already have. I can honestly say that I’m really happy with this cut, more so than any of the others…it’s much more visually exciting, thanks to the use of split screens and other such manipulations. But I suppose ultimately it is Jade’s call, she’s the director after all. I’m just hoping that we will get enough positive responses in the peer appraisal on Monday that we won’t need to change too much!
Here’s a screenshot of this new cut. Oh and I don’t know if I mentioned, but we finally came up with a proper title, rather than the working title of ‘Treasure’ that we’ve been using for the last few months. The documentary is now called ‘The Little Things’, a much more appropriate name, I think:
As for my other work, I’ve finished my trailers and showreel, and Dave’s film ‘Halfway Point’ is pretty much done too…we’re meeting tomorrow to just make the last few changes (although I’m sure there’ll be a few to do after the peer appraisals next week) and then I can tick that one off my list of things to do too! So it’s all nicely coming together, I just hope there’s no major issues between now and the hand-in…I’m not sure my stress levels will be able to handle it!
