Photo Of The Week: Sculpture By The Sea

A Plastic Globe by the sea

This week I took a trip with some friends to Bondi Beach to stroll along the coastal path that runs all the way between Bondi and Coogee beaches, about a 3 and a half hour walk (or 8.8km). Nicknamed ‘Sydney’s Best Coastal Walk‘ for a reason, this is a great way to spend a morning, afternoon or even a whole day, depending on how adventurous you’re feeling. You can do the walk in sections, stopping at each individual beach along the way, or try to tackle the whole thing in one go, it’s totally up to you. Personally, we only went as far as Bronte beach and what should normally take about half an hour took us over an hour and a half due to the fact that we were stopping every two seconds to marvel at the awesome art installations that are dotted along the coastal path at the moment as part of the Sculpture By The Sea Exhibition.

Some of the sculptures were absolutely amazing and I was particularly taken with this one above, titled Plastic World’ by Carole Purnelle and Nuno Maya. I love the bright colours of the piece and all the little bits of plastic that make up our globe, offset by the sea and rocks in the background. Sculpture by the Sea is only on for another 2 days in Bondi, so if you’re currently in Sydney I would absolutely recommend you make trip to the beach!
