Towards the end of my time in New York, I thought I’d better take a trip up the Empire State Building, just to see what all the fuss is about. And boy was I in for a shock…it was like nothing I’d ever seen before. I got up to the top (well, not the very top, that’s super expensive…I think I went to the 86th floor or something like that) just as the sun was setting, casting a deep orange glow over the entire city. From that high up, with all the lights on in every building, and all the tiny cars and even tinier people moving about below, it felt almost magical, like I’d stepped out of that lift into another world.
