Hotel Review: Valentine Hotel, Hue

The Valentine Hotel, well, what can I say? This was one of the nicest places we have stayed so far, and for only $6 per night (each) for a three bed private, ensuite room. Upon arrival, the staff greet you with a smile and an absolute willingness and desire to please and do everything they possibly can do make your stay a pleasant one. This over attentiveness can get a little irritating at times, but you just have to remember that they mean nothing by it, and are just trying to help in any way they can.

It’s a family run hotel, and the atmosphere definitely represents this, as everyone is very close and they immediately welcomed us into their little family, even introducing us to and letting us play with their 9-month old baby boy (who is absolutely adorable).

Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and you get a choice of 6 different options, including bread, eggs, fruit and pancakes, amongst other things. There is also free WiFi available, although we found it to be a little temperamental at times…however there are two computers down in the lobby that are free for hotel guests to use at any time.

The location is great too, only a 5-10 minute walk from the main tourist area of guesthouses, restaurants and bars (and all the other travellers), and just a short taxi ride from the train station. The hotel will also book city tours and bus/train tickets for you, all of which will pick you up from the hotel and, when they don’t (as was the case with our bus from Hue to Hoi An), one of the staff will give you a ride to where you need to go.

So all in all this was a fantastic place to stay, with the only negative I can think of being the slightly hard mattresses, but putting that aside,I would most definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hue.
